I suggest that people bring some food with them. If the weather is good, time for sunbathing or even more walking!
As the walk goes out along Glassthorpe Lane, it may be best parking along that stretch. The lane is through the village, past the pub on the right and it should be the first turning on the left. It's the long thin yellow road on Multimap!

As soon as you arrive in Sharnbrook turn sharp right onto Yellnow Lane. Follow road to the end ~1.25 miles signposted Unilever, sports field. Sunday 21st September is a new experimental walk. Lead by myself [Kate], a walk from Stow on the Wold. Distance 8-10miles (still to decide) 8.30am Leave N'pton to arrive at Stow on the Wold at 10am (so you can meet us there if you want to make a weekend of it.
BUT to save the environment and our money we will meet at 8.30 at the bottom of the carpark at Sixfields cinema (near the resturants Frankie & Bennie's?). It would be handy to know if your interested in this so I have an idea of numbers etc.

Sunday 26th October 5 miles 10.30am

October

Wednesday 1st Pub met at The Greyhound in Milton Malsor (new day and pub)

Sunday 5th Jayne all day. At the bottom lock at Stoke Bruene, on the A508 where the road crosses the canal. For those who don't know Stoke Bruene you don't actually have to go into the village, but if you do: find The Navigator and follow the road it's on to the bottom. You will then have to cross the main road to the car park (you'll see some house on the canal).
If you're coming from Northampton on the A508, go through Roade, past the signs that tell you to turn right for Stoke Bruene and look for a turning on the left just before the road crosses the canal, if you go up a hill you've gone too far!

Fri 17th -19th Wales weekend James.

A change of venue to a Ski resort(?) 15 minutes down the road from Cadair Idris. Here's the extra attraction; it has a pub on site with good food apparently.

Sunday 26th October 5 miles 10.30am

As James' weekend has been booked Simon's walk will be on this date from our house. If you don't know the address please let me know. AND if your not too muddy we might invite you in afterwards.

November

Sunday 2nd Area AGM at Blisworth Village Hall. 2 walks planned.

Wednesday 5th Pub met. 8pm Red Lion at Kislingbury.

Sunday 16th Bill at Crick start 10.30am 8 miles.
The start point is MR 594725. There are two car lay-bys - one directly outside the post office (holds 5 cars) - theother directly opposite it (holds 10). Also if these are full (which I doubt) there is an old bit of road just before you get to them which has now been bypassed and which should be big enough for quite a few more!
Travelling to Crick. You can either be boring and go up the M1 to junction 18. This will bring you on the far side of the village from the start point so you will either need to drive right through the village or come round the bypass and then turn right into it. Alternatively you can take the more scenic route up the A428 which will bring you to the correct side of the village.
Pubs. There are at least two pubs in Crick - The Red Lion and The Wheatsheaf. The latter definitely stays open and serves food all day (it's a McManus pub). There is also the Knightley Arms in Yelvertoft (Sunday Opening Bar 12-10.30 Restaurant 12 - 2). But this is only a third or 3/4 of the way round (the route is a vague figure of eight).

Sunday 30th Kate 9.30 all day Yardley Gobien.

December

Wednesday 3rd Pub met at 8pm. Saracens Head Little Brington.

Sunday 7th We need a leader for this one! We also plan to have a Christmas meal so please feel free to volunteer.

December 28th - Bill
Start Time: 10am

Start Point: MR 755773 - Draughton Crossing Car Park on Brampton Valley Way
Road Directions: Take A508 (Market Harborough road) from Northampton to Maidwell. Turn right on to Draughton road (this turn comes before the pub which is on your left). This will lead you to the car park which will be on your left. If you reach Draughton village you've gone too far (and not for the first time!).
Pub stop? The Bull's Head at Arthingworth is open from 12 on Sunday - there is also a pub at Great Oxenden but this requires a detour.
