January

Sunday 6th
New Members walk, 6 January 2019, Figure of 8 walk from Stanwick Lakes, John

Everyone is warmly welcomed to our first walk of the year. Whether you’re an established member of the group coming along to blow out a few of the Christmas cobwebs or someone venturing out with us for the first time. If you haven’t walked with us before, you might find it helpful to read our FAQ page of our website – or ask your questions as you walk along with us!

As usual our first walk of the year is a figure of 8 walk. A figure of 8 walk is a walk of two halves, returning to the starting point at lunchtime and going on an afternoon walk from approximately the same location. This allows people to either walk the morning loop, afternoon loop or both.

Most people drive to our walks. On this occasion its possible to get a bus from Northampton to Stanwick, from there its an 11 minute walk (precision from Google maps!) to Stanwick Lakes. See the X47 timetable here

The morning loop is about 5 miles long. Meet by the parking payment machine at Stanwick Lakes  ready to start walking at 10.30am.

We will start by heading out along the old Northampton to Peterborough railway line up to Ringstead fishing lakes. From there we’ll follow the Nene Way to Little Addington and back to Stanwick Lakes. Please be aware that the field leaving Little Addington will be muddy! Returning to the main visitors centre, people can either buy their lunch at the café at Stanwick Lakes or bring sandwiches to eat nearby.

The afternoon walk of approximately 4 miles will start at 1pm at the parking payment machine of Stanwick Lakes. We will head past the lakes towards Raunds and back.

Parking is £3 daily rate.
Sunday 13th
