Day 3 Sunday

Up with the larks and a swim in the sea on Porthcressa Beach for John and Dan (very bracing).

Across to Tresco the first of the off islands, the crossing was a lot less adventurous as the Scillonian but wash from a jet boat made the last ½ mile a bit choppy.

After the landing (reminded me of Dunkirk without the shelling) we wandered along to the famous abbey gardens (like the Eden project without the roof) then up to New Grimsby and waded across to the next island of Bryher and back quickly before the tide came in, a quick drink on the only pub on the island finding the ales of Scilly brew, a walk to the other side of the island (old Grimsby) and around the top of island to two 17th century forts before catching the boat back from New Grimsby only just missing a soaking from the rain, beer food beer bed

Day 4 Monday

Up early (well not that) to be at Old Town for seal snorkelling. Wet suited and snorkelled up we headed round the bottom of St Mary's in a speed boat to just off a small rocky island. We jumped out of the boat and swam nearer to the island and waited for the seals to swim among us, with only fleeting glances at the start but at the end as many as 3 swimming only inches away, and one

On return after some lunch (Cornish pasties v. good) Andy and John hired some open kayaks and paddled around the harbour for an hour then having a quick swim in the sea (bit cold).

We met up with Dan on Porthcressa beech, whilst sat there the waft from the chip van tempted us into one of the best fish and chips in a while, a quick pint before returning to the campsite for a shower.

Chance finding of a note at the site from the girls saying that they were in the Star Castle bar but by the time we got there they had been gone 30 mins, unable to contact them because their phones were turned off lead to a quick tour of the pubs but were unable to locate them (only took 5 mins the town's only small) only by a chance glancing though an open restaurant door they were located , we all met up in the pub over the road and swapped stories of the day.

More to come on Day 3, from the girls' point of view!
